NOLA!

My good friend Allyson and I have been planning last weeks trip to New Orleans since last spring! We bought tickets in the fall and have had the hotels booked for months. Allyson went to run the Rock 'N Roll Marathon and I was supposed to run the half but my training didn't go over so well (darn sports induced asthma!). We ended up having an amazing time. I hadn't been to New Orleans in almost ten years, so it was like I was discovering it again. Thanks to some great tips from a coworker we made it to some pretty great spots!

See more:

The Oyster Bar on Bourbon Street where we had mimosas and our first raw oysters on the half shell!

Before: I was a little nervous to try it for the first time!
After: they were actually really good!

We went to the Hattie Sparks boutique, I've been wanting to check it out since she was featured on The Every Girl

You can check out Hattie Sparks online shop Here. I ended up getting this Red Beans and Rice shirt.
We had beignets and cafe au lait at Cafe Du Monde, this is a must if you've never been before!

Exploring the uptown neighborhood! Amazing photo by Allyson!

St. Louis Cemetery #1. Photo by Allyson.
A trip to Mardi Gras World, they actually work on the floats while the tour was going on. It was actually very cool!

Some places to hit if you're in New Orleans:
Acme Oyster House
Check out the Free Spirit Brass Band, often seen at the intersection of Canal and Bourbon
Mardi Gras World - it was a total tourist spot but actually had a really great tour!
Walk through a cemetery: we went to St. Louis Cemetery #1 a couple blocks East of Canal
Have coffee at PJ's
Have more coffee and a beignet at Cafe Du Monde
Check out the shops on North Peters St. We went to an amazing store called Wish
Take a streetcar, the St. Charles streetcar is a really fun ride

Any other fun suggestions for things to do in New Orleans? I'm dying to go back!
